Mothiva is one of the most popular stars in Bugaria. Zasp, the wasp warrior, helps her a lot in her career. Together they form Team Mothiva.

Appearance

Mothiva appears as most moths. Her entire body is cream-coloured with patches of white fluff around her chest, waist, hips and legs. Her wings are also quite fluffy, being primarily used as a cape or robe. Around her antenna is a cherry red decoration that appears similar to a flower.

In the non-canonical Version 0.4.1 demo, Mothiva displays a slim physique with red eyes, light skin, and short eyebrows. Her hair appears as orange with cherry red bows and long pigtails that extend to her waist. She wears a beige sailor fuku with a dark blue bow, a dark blue skirt, black high socks, and a brown shirt. She wields an AKM, which she uses to kill Vi in the April Fools demo.

According to Queen Layra II, her voice is described to be "smooth as ever".

Personality

While in public, Mothiva masks herself as a kind and loving person towards all of her fans. In truth, however, she is snide, arrogant, egotistical, and a incredibly vain individual, who wishes for nothing more than for others to see her as the shining star she believes she is.

Although the leader of her own exploration team, she is shown to be incompetent at her job, preferring to do performances instead. This is made apparent during her first appearance in Chapter 2, where she begs Team Snakemouth for her team to get that chapter's Ancient Artifact. Her excuse is that she tries to "bring [...] [the] joy to Bugaria's citizens.

Outside of her fans, the only person Mothiva is shown to care about is her partner, both in-crime and romantically, Zasp. The two appear to have a strong feeling towards each other, with Mothiva reviving Zasp whenever he's knocked out in-battle. When it does come to her fans, if they root for anyone else other than Mothiva (such as Team Snakemouth in Chapter 6), she will often become envious of the person they're rooting for, and will call them "stupid" behind their backs.

Trivia

• In the demo, Mothiva gives the Theater Help Wanted! quest instead of M.M.
• Her name is a portmanteau of the words "moth", her species, and "diva", a word for a famous female pop singer or a self important person who is difficult to please.
• According to Futes, her and Zasp's creator, and Genow, the writer and co-creator of Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, Mothiva and Zasp are romantically involved with each other.^[1]
• In the text file of H.B.'s lab, there is an unused B.O.S.S. option for a third fight with Zasp and Mothiva. This implies that Zasp and Mothiva were supposed to have three fights over the course of the game instead of two. According to Mar, this fight, originally occuring in Chapter 4, was replaced with the fight against the Dune Scorpion in order to tell Leif's backstory.^[2]
• According to Mar, the musical notes that appear when Mothiva attacks are visualizations and not meant to imply she has magic.^[3]
• Although Mothiva has no official pronunciation, Genow pronounces it like "Muh-thee-vuh".^[4]
