The Ancient Artifacts are items rumored to be clues to find the Everlasting Sapling. These are objects Team Snakemouth tries to find through the game on their quest.
List of Artifacts
Ancient Mask
The Ancient Mask is found in Snakemouth Den. It is guarded, intentionally or not, by Spider, and obtained in Chapter 1.
Picking it up triggers a trap which floods the caverns. The mask seems to have three eye sockets on one side, and some lenses made of crystals on the other side.
It is stolen, along with the Ancient Tablet and one of the Ancient Key Pieces, by the Wasp King, after he threatens Queen Elizant II during his second invasion of the Ant Kingdom City, after Chapter 5.
During Chapter 7, The Ancient Mask is used by the Wasp King to cast the Ancient Tablet into the shield protecting the Everlasting Sapling, disabling it. He also uses it, as The Everlasting King, to summon the other artifacts during battle.
Ancient Tablet
The Ancient Tablet is found in the Golden Hills. It is guarded by Venus and obtained in Chapter 2. It contains instructions on how to find the Sapling, as well as how to disable its shield.[1]
Before the events of the game, Venus was asked by a Roach to protect the Ancient Tablet. After Team Snakemouth makes through her trial, she handles it to the team. It appears to be a piece of rock or wood with ancient languages written on it.
It is stolen, along with the Ancient Mask and one of the Ancient Key Pieces, by the Wasp King, after he threatens Queen Elizant II during his second invasion of the Ant Kingdom City, after Chapter 5.
During Chapter 7, the Ancient Tablet is used by the Wasp King to disable the shield that protects the sapling. During the battle against the Everlasting King, it generates bubble shields around him, rendering him immune to harm, and takes 3 hits to knock away and disable.
Ancient Key Pieces
The first key piece is found in the Honey Factory as the core of the factory. It is guarded by Heavy Drone B-33 and obtained in Chapter 3. It is stolen, along with the Ancient Mask and the Ancient Tablet, by the Wasp King, after he threatens Queen Elizant II during his second invasion of the Ant Kingdom City, after Chapter 5.
The second key piece is found in the Ancient Castle. It is guarded by The Watcher and obtained in Chapter 4. It is stolen from Leif by the Wasp King during his first invasion of Ant Kingdom, after Chapter 4.
They are used to unlock the shell containing the Everlasting Sapling.
During the final battle, both key pieces can fire laser beams at a party member, drill into them, or assemble together as a lightsaber to slash at them for very high damage.
Ancient Crown
While not directly related to the main story, according to a Roach in the Giant's Lair, this crown also holds ancient power same as other ancient artifacts, and is stolen by the Wasp King. It is said that it amplifies any existing magic within the wearer, as well as granting a powerful Wasp mind control effect. It was created by the Roaches to protect themselves from the Wasps.[1] The Roach guard says that they tossed the crown out.
If Team Snakemouth buys all the Trinkets from Yale on Metal Island, he will tell them he fished up a crown in the past and that he gave it to a young boy. That crown is heavily implied to be the Ancient Crown that the Roaches tossed, and the boy who wanted it was Hoaxe. This is also shown in Hoaxe: Origins.
The Crown can be seen falling off of The Everlasting King's head after he is turned into a tree. Afterwards, it appears in Team Snakemouth's house as a Trophy.
